I Recently Had An Interview With VIbe manchester Last thursday As part of national Autism Awareness day which happened on Thursday 2nd of april. here's my interview about my personal experiences with autism
VIbe MCR: What is your name & WHere do you live?
Adam: My name is Adam Fowler and I'm From Southport (Which is not far from Manchester)
Vibe mcr: Tell us a little about your Autism - where on the spectrum are you and how does it affect your day to day life?
Adam: So On The Specturm you say that I'm mild to sevire on the autism side of things. It can have alot of impact on my day to day life as not many people know I have autism, it sometimes have a lot of impact on work sometimes, as I work in a restaurant sometimes I walk in thinking what is going to happen today, I still remember horrible things in my last job with my autism, now I try to over come the obsticles and be my very best.

Vibe Mcr: When were you diagnosed with autism and how did it impact on your schooling?
adam: I was diagnosed when I was a young age when I was at primary school, where I live some schooling wasn't aware of my autism and all the teachers I came across said I wasn't going to get any qualifications and I wouldnt get far in life, my parents faught tooth and nail with the council to ensure proper support was in place for me and it didn't work so they moved me into private education and a tutor helped me with some of work which was a perfect environment. Then Secondary school was much better, they helped me gain more knowledge and even put me down for some GSCES which I'd never thought I get! I also did 3 years of college and I studied travel and tourism I got a lot of qualifications and even awards from the college for all my hard work so it was a mixture of experiences.

Vibe mcr: What is a common misconception about autism?

Adam: One of the misconceptions of autism is that they can't do everything. I overheard one time when I was in work in my past jobs as we used to get quite a few people into my work whom were on the Specturm as me and I wanted to help as much as I can, but my managers who I work with at the time didn't understand autism dispite telling them and they kept me on the same station, thinking oh autistic people need to stay in the one area and they thought my communication is poor. Autism has an impact on communication and loads of people think my communication was great but my managers thought differently and I didn't get promoted cause of it.

Vibe MCr: Who has been a powerful role model in your life, autistic or not?

Adam: I had quite alot of role models who get me through the hard times when I need it most, at the moment cause of what's happening with COVID19, I'm currently listening to The Unemployed Show podcast on Spotify with Anna Roisman who is a new York comedian and I know her content helps me through hard times.

Vibe MCR: Who has noticed that your a-typical way of viewing the world can actually be a massive benefit, and how did it feel when they did?

Adam: Loads of people have notice my way of doing things and they take notice of it! I try to arise autism awareness as the best as I can, I promote it mainly at work as most employers don't have the understanding for the spectrum and by telling what I have can help with my support and all that. I don't need support at the moment but my managers now have a understanding of what I got and the customers are really understanding about it.

Vibe MCR: Tell us about your photography?

Adam: My Photography started ages ago, I set up Adam Fowler Photography to help promote myself (as a model, Photographer and a aspiring actor) and I cover photography from sky rising buildings of Manchester to the sunset beaches of Rhodes in Greece. I also cover some things in between, I know in the future I'll be working with TemperTank Manchester with some content and I've also had companies sharing my photography work too such as SAS Scandinavian Airlines, INNSIDE Manchester, Village FC Manchester and Atrium Hotels just to name a few.

VIbe mcr: How do you think the way you view the world impacts your photography?

Adam: Photography helps with my autism, i say to myself if everything gets too much i just pack my camera and travel and just take some photographs, it makes me feel better and when I upload my photography on Instagram and my photography blog I get a sense of achievement of all the photography work that I've done.

Vibe mcr: What makes today important?

Adam: I treat everyday like its the same, everyday there is new challenges I can face or it be a day where I can start promoting new photography work so other people can appreciate my work.

vibe mcr: If you could let people know one thing about autism, what would it be?

Adam: If I had to let people one thing about autism, I can say that we are different in a good way, cause we have the abilitys to do anything in life if we put our minds together, I always "autism has the abilty to do anything"
